Congratulations, you won the employee of the month award! How did you feel when you found out that you had won?
I was excited and surprised when Richard announced my name. It was exciting. I didn’t know Richard was going to announce my name and when he did, I felt appreciated for my hard work, which made me happy.
Do you know why you were selected?
I was getting things ready for production in advance, doing work before it was needed so it would be ready.
Who is your favorite Bollywood actor or actress?
I would have to say for an actor, Aamir Khan, and for an actress, I don’t have one in particular, but I like Katrina Kaif.
What is your favorite food or candy?
Maybe Snickers. When I was doing my classes in college I wouldn’t eat breakfast, but I would get a Snickers, which was really helpful for the day.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I usually play guitar, listen to music, I like alternative rock or punk rock. And sometimes I watch documentaries.
Tell us about your family.
I grew up in an orphanage. I stayed there through grade 12 and then I moved out and worked on my bachelor’s degree. A year ago I got married to Pabitra. March 16 will be our one-year anniversary.
Did you have a lot of friends in the orphanage growing up?
Yeah, lots of friends. There were five other guys who were in the same class with me. We are still close friends. Only one still lives in Nepal, he is living close to here. So we meet up, hang out, and do our prayer devotion together once a week. For the other guys, some are in the Middle East, one is in Australia and one is in America.
What do you do at Purnaa?
I work as a floor manager. I make sure everything is ready for production, like labels, threads, and such and make sure there is enough for production. I also make sure that team leaders and team members are prepared for new products. I get to oversee how the production teams are doing.
What is your favorite part of your job?
I enjoy going around to the teams and seeing how they are working, particularly talking to each team member and seeing how they are doing. Sometimes we have complaints or arguments and I like listening to them and helping them, giving them ideas or solutions on how to fix problems.I like being a leader to them and it’s a very good opportunity for me to also grow.
How long have you worked at Purnaa?
This coming April will be one year.
What is different about Purnaa from other places you have worked?
In other jobs people are mainly focused on how your performance is going. At Purnaa I see our owner and our company want us to grow mentally and spiritually as well, which is very different from other companies.
