I felt very very happy. I was speechless.
Who is your favorite Bollywood actor/actress?
Ajay Devgn and Kajol
What is your favorite food/candy?
My favorite food is dal baht and my favorite candy is dairy milk chocolate.
What is your favorite color?
Red
What is your favorite machine at Purnaa?
The overlock because it is easy to use.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I like to spend my free time with my daughter. We like to sit and talk.
Tell us about your family.
I live with my daughter, mother and younger brother. I have a small family. My daughter is 11 years old.
What is your job at Purnaa?
Sewing on Indira’s team.
What is it like to work in that role?
I do sewing, packing, and whatever tasks my team leader tells me to do that day.
How long have you worked at Purnaa?
About seven months.
What do you like about Purnaa?
Purnaa is the best place. It feels like my home. The best part is everyone knows you and treats you equally, no matter what department you are in.
What did you do before you worked at Purnaa?
I’ve done a lot of different jobs; housework, construction, farming, washing clothes, looking after pregnant women.
What is different here from other places you have worked?
There is a huge difference, I can’t even compare. Since working here, I have started to look after my health more. There is also a difference in the way people speak to each other here; there is respect for everyone.
How have you changed as a person since working here?
After working at Purnaa, I have realized that no matter what happens in life, you have to keep moving forward and doing your best. The purpose of my life has changed since working here.
What are some ways you want to grow in your work?
I want to keep growing and getting better at my work. My skills are not the most developed right now, but I hope to one day be on the design and sampling team.
What dreams do you have for the future?
I dream that my daughter won’t do what I did by moving from job to job. I hope that she will have a focused profession, like sewing. I want her to grow in one area so she can perfect her skills. I would like her to learn sewing. I did not have the education to become a nurse or doctor, but when I got the job at Purnaa for sewing, I thought of my daughter and I wanted to plant a seed and guide her in this direction.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
I am thankful for the opportunity to be here. My whole family is very satisfied with my job and is very happy that I am here. I dream every day that Purnaa will grow, because the employers love and unite the workers and they help women like me, a single mother who is a widow, to have a job.
